‘Better Watch Your Step’ is the new single from singer-songwriter and psychedelic poet Gus Englehorn. It’s a rock track at its core, but the jangling textures and verse-chorus contrast give it a unique edge, despite the playful hooks that fill it. Butthole Surfers’ Paul Leary’s unique production is the perfect complement to the track. On the music video that accompanies the track, collaborator Estée Preda says: “We like letting limitations guide the direction, and this time, space played a central role. Shooting the video at home pushed us to think small, which led to stop-motion as a cost and space-efficient way to work within that scale.” His new album, The Broken Balladeer, drops on February 27th, 2026. -Dan Peeke
